Agent Threatens Homeowner With Gun To Get Real Estate Sign Back

According to The Dallas Morning News, a resident of the 4200 block of Windhaven Lane in North Dallas found a real estate sign in his yard. Since his house wasn’t for sale nor did he give permission to have a sign posted in his yard, he took it down and threw it away. Now I know how much real estate agents have to pay for those signs, having a stack of signs myself, but I think this person (article doesn’t confirm whether or not it was a real estate agent) went a bit too far.

The story states that while the homeowner was watering his lawn, a man pulled up, demanding his sign be returned. When the man in the car asked where the sign was, the homeowner told him he had thrown it away. The man, assumed to be an agent, then pulled a gun on the homeowner and demanded he get the sign or get shot.

The resourceful homeowner, defended himself with the only weapon he had available, a garden hose. He sprayed the man in the face, causing him to lose his hat, drop his gun, and rethink his actions. The wet man collected his things and promptly left, but not before a parting threat. “I’ll be back and make you pay,” he said.

I wonder if that real estate sign had the gunman’s phone number on it. Furthermore, if it was a real estate agent with a Texas license, his fingerprints are on file and are probably all over that sign. His next open house may be from a jail cell.

I hope the home owner knows what to do with the sign then. That is one really bad real estate agent. Wonder if he pulls his gun too when people do not want to buy.

Say what you will, but I bet no one has the nerve to give him a lowball offer. I’m assuming he may be a little under pressure, or a little too fond of his signs.
