Realtor Held Up by Prospective Buyer Armed with a Stick

Last I checked, real estate agent wasn’t among the list of most dangerous jobs. However, after a series of real estate agent murders and the frightening incident that occurred in San Antonio, Texas, it could be climbing the list. A Realtor was giving a tour of a luxury home when the prospective buyer attacked the agent and demanded money.

During the home tour, which happened to be in a gated community, a man posing as a potential buyer attacked the real estate agent with a stick and demanded $4000. When the agent claimed she didn’t have the money on her, the attacker drove her to a bank to withdraw the money. During the drive to the bank, the agent fled the car and jumped into another car to get help. The police were summoned to the scene and the man was arrested. The Realtor was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries and she is expected to fully recover.

It’s not uncommon for a real estate agent to request a pre-approval letter before showing a house, however in this case the agent should have requested a background check as well.
