Realtor Caught on Tape in New Jersey Sex Scandal

Leaving your home in the care of a real estate agent puts a lot of trust that they will care for your property and belongings. Most of the time your agent will only do the right thing, but on occasion that trust will backfire. Even more rare is catching your agent misbehaving on tape. Or, in this case, naked on camera.

One North New Jersey home seller hired to sell a home in Wayne, New Jersey, located about 20 miles from New York City, began on the right path to selling the home. However, he was later caught by the owner on home security camera footage having sex with a female colleague. The homeowner blackmailed the agent, Robert Lindsay formerly of Re/Max. He wanted $990,000 to keep the tapes a secret. The Weiner’s claim to have caught the transgressions on tape on 13 occasions. This sex scandal cost both Lindsay and his partner their jobs at their real estate agency.

The homeowner later sued Lindsay for allegedly overpricing the home so it would not sell while the agent used the property as a secret love nest. Lindsay is now counter-suing homeowners Richard and Sandra Weiner for extortion, which could bring criminal charges and possible jail time.

While the counter-suit partially shifts the blame for wrongdoing back to the blackmailing homeowners, it may be too little too late for Lindsay and sex partner Jeannemarie Phelan, both of whom may lost their real estate license or face fines. Both lost their jobs due to their on-duty sexual behavior and have had their careers severely damaged by the public allegations.

As a Realtor, you are trusted to do the right thing. Having sex in a client’s home is certainly a breach of trust and your duties as an agent.

Two Shady Real Estate Agents Backstab Clients

A tale of two real estate agent’s shady dealings. The first, a commercial real estate agent in Colorado lost his license when he neglected to present an offer to his own seller. Carol Price, owner of a dance clothing store on the brink of foreclosure, contracted with Mark Dyson of CORE Holdings to sell the property. When an offer came in for $268,000 Dyson neglected to present the offer to Price, and the property fell into foreclosure. Here’s the kicker. Dyson himself purchased the property when it went to auction, flipped it, and sold it to the man whose original offer was never presented for $265,000. Talk about an abuse of power! Continue reading

Sex Sells, But It Got This Real Estate Agent Arrested

I’ve always heard that “Sex Sells Real Estate.”  Apparently sexiness combined assertiveness doesn’t make a good combination.  Real estate agents can be known for being assertive, after all, that type of personality trait is often advantageous in sales-based jobs such as real estate. However, one real estate agent’s over-assertiveness landed him behind bars with a sexual battery charge. Continue reading

Real Estate Agent Turns Yard into Animal Graveyard

Realtor Andrea Straub, an agent in the Philadelphia area, was selling her home and competing with a neighbor for eyes and potential buyers. Rather than take the high road and try to be the best house on the block, this agent was caught on video vandalizing her neighbor’s property in an attempt to sabotage any potential sale. Broker on ‘Million Dollar Listing New York’ Under Investigation by State for “A Little White Lie”

As I’ve always said, virtual tours can be a nice enhancement to a listing photograph, but too much enhancement should be considered an unethical practice and should also be considered fraud.  Here is an example of too much enhancement. Continue reading

Agent Threatens Homeowner With Gun To Get Real Estate Sign Back

According to The Dallas Morning News, a resident of the 4200 block of Windhaven Lane in North Dallas found a real estate sign in his yard. Since his house wasn’t for sale nor did he give permission to have a sign posted in his yard, he took it down and threw it away. Now I know how much real estate agents have to pay for those signs, having a stack of signs myself, but I think this person (article doesn’t confirm whether or not it was a real estate agent) went a bit too far. Naked Real Estate Agent Caught Servicing Client

Apparently when he shows a house, he SHOWS EVERYTHING!  The homeowner’s son walked in on their naked real estate agent and another man undressed in their master bathroom.  Police said a 46-year-old real estate salesman from Morris and his client, a 25-year-old Chicago man, were found naked just before noon Thursday in the master bathroom in a house on the 4400 block of White Ash Lane in Naperville, IL.  I guess the homeowners will have to sit down with the son to have a talk about the “birds and the birds, or bees and the bees.” Continue reading

Real Estate Agent Accused of Sexual Staging

Image created by ImageryMajestic provided courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net

A Maple Grove, Minn. couple has filed a lawsuit against a real estate brokerage company and agent alleging the agent used their home for sexual encounters while they were out of the country.  Apparently there still are a few FULL service real estate agents out there.  I’m not sure what the real story is here.  Is it that the agent used a client’s home for sexual escapades or is the real story that those sexual escapades result in a $7000 cost to clean or replace the soiled furniture, bedding, carpet and other things.
